MAFS on Channel 9 is actively promoting domestic violence by showing it on screen and having their male “relationship expert” call it fine.
It’s not fine.
They think their show is funny entertainment, but it’s not funny.
We are in an epidemic of DFV in Australia, with a man killing a woman every 4 days.
Some of the men in this show should be in jail.
But they’re not. They’re on free-to-air TV.
Sign this petition by WWYW Australia, to get MAFS off the air and get Channel 9 to make a formal apology: https://www.change.org/p/mafs-11-urgent-demands-to-protect-viewers-participants-hold-channel-9-accountable

Is it really that bad? What the MAFS manchild squad has done on screen
Well, let’s start with Paul.
Paul punched a wall when he lost his temper – an act of physical violence that meets the legal definition of domestic violence, and is a high risk factor for assault and murder of an intimate partner.
Now, after thousands of MAFS fans have made formal complaints about that episode, the NSW Police are attempting to do their job by investigating – see The Australian’s report.
I hear you ask, why did he lunch a wall?
Because he was jealous that his partner Carina mentioned briefly that she’d been with a rapper in the past.
Ummmmm, dude.
Breaking physical property in someone’s presence is a form of physical assault, and this is illegal in Australia. Go to jail, Paul.
Then there’s Adrian, who nearly did end up in jail already, because he resisted police charges when he was in trouble for DV charges of physical assault causing bodily harm, like serious actual injuries, to his former partner.
Why is a heinously violent man, who was acquitted on very very sketchy grounds, a star on a reality TV show?
But back to what Adrian does on MAFS.
So Adrian constantly tries to gaslight his partner Awhina, and he verbally and emotionally abuses her, to the point he makes her distraught at least once in every episode.
For example, in this week’s episode, there is the infamous lunch where Adrian and his sisters falsely accuse Awhina of horrible things, and berate her knowing she has already been crying, then try to gaslight her that she isn’t doing enough in the relationship.
It’s actually insane.
Because we’ve already seen Adrian do absolutely nothing good in his relationship with Awhina except for take her to dinner once, at NANDO’S, and he’s told her he doesn’t want to be with her because she’s a single mum, he doesn’t want to hear anything about her son, he’s emotionally abusing her in every episode, he’s guilt tripping her constantly about things HE has done to HER, classic DARVO there, and he abandons her just because he happened to not be there for one particular photoshoot… Then tries to gaslight her that she would have reached out to him more after he left her.
This manchild will never understand that the problem is not Awhina. It’s him.
And everyone can clearly see how it has beaten poor Awhina down.
She is, while still one of the most beautiful women in the country, a shell of herself. She even talks about how she’s lost her voice as a result of his unending unethical behaviour against her.

Okay, moving on to Eliot.
He bores me, so to be brief, he rejected his first MAFS partner Lauren because he, an older millennial, wanted to be with a 25-year-old Gem Z whom he could control, he wanted someone skinny, and he wanted to have biological kids in a hurry.
These men are such creeps!
Okay, so then he lies about all of this to his new partner Veronica. Then he gaslights her, saying you don’t remember what we said because you had 5 margaritas (which is false).
Oh, and then he was guilt tripping her because she didn’t gush over him as much as he wanted after he read her a letter about his life. I don’t know, mam, I think he just needs to go to therapy!
Oh, and he has scary, child, dead, would-be-killer eyes. And I’m not the only one who thinks so, Abbie agrees with me!
Anyway, sign the petition.
Women in Australia do not deserve to have to deal with this absolute garbage that Channel 9 is promoting.
It’s violent, it’s abusive, and putting it on TV without calling it out as such is their way of actively promoting misogyny and Dionysios violence by men against women and people of colour.
